Fudge Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars are an indulgent dessert sure to knock your socks off! These easy, chewy, chocolatey bars are and crazy delicious!

Ingredients

Cookies

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2/3 cups brown sugar
  • 2/3 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 1/3 cups all purpose flour
  • 12oz semi sweet chocolate chips

Fudge

  • 14oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 12oz semi sweet chocolate chips

Directions

Cookies
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350
In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugars until light and creamy.
Add eggs, vanilla, and salt and mix well.
Add baking soda and flour and mix until combined.
Stir in chocolate chips.
Step 2
Press 2/3 of the dough into a foil lined, greased 9x13" pan. Se aside.
Fudge
Step 3
In a glass bowl, melt the condensed milk and chocolate in the microwave, 30 seconds at a time, stirring each time, until melted and smooth. Pour evenly over cookie dough.
Cookies
Step 4
Take remaining 1/3 cookie dough, and flatten between your hands, a little at a time, and lay over the fudge layer as evenly as possible. (Because the dough is sticky, it works best to spray your clean hands with cooking spray to make the dough easier to handle).
Step 5
Bake 22-25 minutes or until golden and the edges start to slightly pull away from the sides of the pan. Cool on the counter, then chill for 2 or more hours before cutting. Store tightly covered.

I’m feeling lazy this weekend. Can I use a roll of chocolate chip cookie dough instead of making the cookie dough from scratch?

When you say 2/3 cups brown sugar, is that two thirds of a cup or two to three cups?

Just found this recipe. I was wondering what you think about adding a caramel layer on top of fudge layer. Too much?

Who’s to say what is too much 😉 It would certainly be very sweet and rich, but if that’s your jam, I say go for it!

I would make sure it is a salted caramel layer so that it counter balances the sweetness.

So glad you love them! They do not need to be refrigerated unless you find the fudge layer is getting too soft 🙂

How important is the sweet condensed milk? If I use regular milk, how much will this effect it?

The condensed milk is very thick and sweet. Regular milk will not work as a substitute, sorry!

So I needed a dessert for myself that I could make gluten free. I just substituted with Pillsbury GF flour as the rest was fine for me. My family will eat some GF but could care less. I wanted my own dessert and dang…these were amazing yet dangerous. I did freeze them into smaller containers so I would only grab one to eat after it defrosted. Thank God I’m a fitness instructor, lol! I can eat them and workout haha. Fabulous recipe that was easily adaptable!

Hi! I’m just wondering: why do I need to grease the pan AND foil line it. Can I just grease it and forget the foil?

Hi, Ashley! The foil just makes it a lot easier to cut nice bars and get them out of the pan. You just lift them out using the overhang of the foil, then peel it back and cut! If you prefer, you can certainly skip the foil and just grease the pan 🙂

These were made at a local Fish Fry recently and didn’t know who made them and couldn’t find a good recipe online. We had 1 pc to share and we were addicted instantly, thus beginning our extreme craving for more. This article is an answered prayer to the Brownie gods who live near the Keebler cookies fudge tree…
