Caramel Apple Texas Sheet Cake
Caramel Apple Texas Sheet Cake is incredibly moist and flavorful. It's easy to make and feeds a crowd! The caramel cream cheese icing is out of this world!

Ingredients

Cake

  • 3/4 cups oil (I use canola)
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • dash nutmeg
  • 3 cups peeled, cored, chopped apples (about 3 medium apples)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 1/3 cups all purpose flour

Icing

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 8oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Topping

  • 1/3 cup caramel sauce

Directions

Cake
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350
In a mixing bowl beat oil, applesauce, and sugars well. Add eggs, one at a time until well incorporated. Add vanilla, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and baking soda and mix well. Mix in flour just until combined. Stir in apples. Spread into a greased jely roll pan (13x18") and bake for 18-20 minutes or until toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean.
Icing
Step 2
While the cake is baking melt the cream cheese and butter over medium heat in a saucepan. Continue stirring as they melt until there are no lumps and the mixture starts to bubble. Turn off the heat and stir in the powdered sugar until smooth. Pour over hot cake. Once it cools drizzle with caramel sauce.
Store lightly covered in the refrigerator.

Yes, please. I love sheet cakes but haven’t ventured away from chocolate. I love caramel apples so I have a feeling this could easily be a family favorite.

I’ve never made a sheet cake either. But I love the idea of pouring on icing and it creating a shell. Man, that sounds (and looks) perfect.

You know what? I have never made a sheet cake. It’s one of those things I’ve always “meant” to do, but haven’t yet tried. This looks like the perfect place to start, because ohemgeeyum!
