Best Baked Donut Recipe
Serves 12
Prep time 15 minutes
Cook time 9 minutes
Total time 24 minutes
This is the Best Baked Donut Recipe I have ever had! They are made with Greek yogurt which makes them light, and moist. Chocolate and sprinkles are a must!

Ingredients

Donuts

  • 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 dash nutmeg
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2/3 cups plain greek yogurt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping

  • 1 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • sprinkles

Directions

Donuts
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350
In a medium bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and nutmeg. In a separate bowl whisk together the egg, butter, milk, yogurt, and vanilla. Gently stir the dry into the wet, and mix just until combined.
Step 2
Fill a greased donut pan 3/4 of the way full and bake for about 9 minutes. Let cool slighty before removing from pan and frosting.
Ganache
Step 3
In a microwave safe bowl heat the milk for about 90 seconds. Add the chocolate chips and let it set for 2 minutes. Stir until smooth.
Dunk the tops of each donut and add sprinkles if desired.

Thank you for the recipe. It is very kind of you to share.

As someone else noted, the batter is rather thick, the ratio of dry to wet ingredients seems off. I had to add at least a cup of milk to mix the dry ingredients.

Greek Yoghurt is normally as thick as whipped cream, so that doesn’t help loosen the mix at all. Perhaps the type you use is watery?

Is there a chance that the quantity on one of the ingredients was transferred wrongly?

Once the milk was added, an extra two teaspoons of Baking powder, we had a fair result.

Once again thank you for sharing.

The recipe is correct, The donut batter is thick and sticky, but that is normal! 🙂

I just made the dough and it’s really thick…not pourable at all. Is it supposed to be that way? I had to dollop the donut mix in the pan by teaspoons full.

These look amazing!!! Can you make these without a donut pan? And can you substitute regular plain yogurt or sour cream instead of Greek yogurt?

You could use mini muffin tin! And yes, regular yogurt or sour cream would work too. Enjoy!
