I am a from scratch kind of girl. I love homemade recipes because you control what goes in them. I also have an aversion to shortening and corn syrup and any other unnecessary additives.  This caramel doesn’t have any funny ingredients, just sugar, cream, butter, vanilla, honey, and salt. Simple and scrumptious!

Before we get to the recipe I have a really special giveaway for you!!

D’Wana has an etsy shop, Mountain Girl Melodies, where she sells personalized hand stamped and painted leather cuffs. Let me tell you, her work is so very beautiful! There is so much detail put into each piece. You pick whatever word or name that is special to you and she will create a work of wearable art!

leather cuff giveaway

The sweetest part though, is the reason behind her selling these cuffs. She is raising money so she can go to Africa to teach women a trade so they can support themselves and their families. She has such a beautiful heart! You can read more about her story here.

I am so thrilled to be able to give away one of these stunning cuffs to one of you! I wear mine often and I know you will do the same. My cuff represents my precious babies, and says Miracles Happen.  I love it! (That’s me, 6 months pregnant with our newest miracle!)

Now let’s get to that caramel recipe, shall we? :)

Easy Homemade Caramel Dip

This Awesome Homemade Caramel Dip is so buttery and smooth, and perfect for dipping apples and pretzels! It's natural, additive free and tastes incredible!

  • 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/8 cup honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Step 1
In a medium heavy saucepan cook the sugar undisturbed over medium heat until it starts to melt - about 5 minutes. Once it starts melting stir constantly until smooth and completely dissolved. Add cream a little at a time (it will bubble up a lot as you add it so be careful). Continue stirring as you add the cream until it is smooth. Add the honey and salt and continue stirring and cooking over medium low heat for about 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and add butter and vanilla. Stir well. Allow to cool some before dipping. Store leftovers in the refrigerator, covered.
Makes about 1 cup.

Hmmmm this one’s a toughie! My brain’s having a fart moment so please forgive me for not being able to figure this one out on the spot! Lol

  2. Catherine says

My resolution this year was to look for ways to be grateful in all situations.
I would want my cuff to say “Gratitude” or “Grateful” .

  3. Debbie Caraballo says

Beautiful cuff, and wonderful recipe! My cuff would have to honor my grandkids, but I’d have to think about how best to do that…maybe K-L-J for Kaden, Lisa and Justin!

  4. Dianne says

Anything caramel is divine, in my opinion. Thanks for this wonderful recipe, and also for the chance to win an amazing gift from a most amazing woman.

  5. Christine says

Have you tried doubling the recipe? I would want to try this for a party, but I know not all recipes double well. How long do you think leftovers could stay in the fridge? What am I saying-anything leftover would never last!

On a cuff? I think “Be of good courage”- a reminder I often need as I try to start my own company!! I’m sure the women in Africa would really appreciate D’Wana’s generous and loving help!

  6. Debbie says

What a beautiful bracelet – and yes, miracles do happen all the time. Thanks for a chance at a wonderful giveaway.

  7. Antoinette says

The bracelet is adorable and definitely envying one right now. Would love to have one of my own. I think I might just go ahead and order one for my best friend and myself.

  8. Michelle says

I am new to your site and I am loving everything about it. I have enjoyed all of the recipes. Thank you so much. It is a wonderful thing you friend is doing. It is a great cause. Thank you for the give away.

  9. Whitney Lindeman says

I love “Miracles Happen” – I would want mine to say that, for sure! Or something about following dreams. :)

  10. Cyndi Torres says

Thank you for a recipe with no extra and weird ingredients! I’m trying to avoid corn syrup and shortening too, but I do love caramel! The cuffs are beautiful! I’d have to have a Bible verse on mine.

  11. says

This caramel looks delish!! I would want my cuff to say something similar to “My hero has a zipper” and would be a reference to my youngest daughter. She was born with a heart defect and had open heart surgery and has a “zipper” scar down the center of her chest.

  12. Annette E says

Love the cuffs AND the caramel recipe! I would want my cuff to say “grace”. By grace alone we’re saved and I need to be reminded of that grace daily!

  13. the beth says

Those recipes all look so good — definitely going to save them to try sometime. I would want my cuff to say Be Kind – or something along the lines.

  14. Karissa says

do you think this would work with canned coconut milk or coconut cream? would love to make caramel for my dairy allergic son :)
