The Best Congo Bars
Serves 28
These are The Best Congo Bars! A thick and chewy classic dessert bar, filled with peanuts and three kinds of chocolate! No one can turn these down!

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cups unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cups salted peanuts
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Directions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350.
In a mixing bowl cream the butter and sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add vanilla, salt, and baking powder and mix well. Mix in flour just until combined. Stir in peanuts and chips.
Step 2
Spread dough into a 13x9" baking pan. Bake 16-20 minutes or until tester comes out mostly clean. Let cool before cutting into bars.

I have never heard of Congo Bars but I am already a fan. It reminds me of a lazy man’s cookie. Instead of balling them you can just put all the dough together and done! I love it.

I’ve never heard of Congo Bars before, but I’m so glad you posted these because this dessert is something my family would ADORE. We’re all big chocolate fans, and the combination of several chocolates AND peanuts in this dessert looks to-die-for! Nicely done!
