Ok, peanut butter lovers, this one’s for you! This is one of those super easy, crazy delicious recipes that you will make again and again. Though, I guess it’s only fair that I warn you – it’s really, really hard to stop at just one bar!

These bars start off with a thick, chewy peanut butter cookie base. Then, (because what goes better with peanut butter than chocolate?), let’s throw in some chocolate chips.

Next comes the most beautiful part. Add a bag of unwrapped mini Reese’s peanut butter cups. You don’t even need to chop them, just toss them into the dough whole!

I love adding the pb cups whole because when you turn on the mixer, it breaks them apart in all different sizes. That means, while every bite has some peanut butter love, some bites have a big ol’ hunk of those glorious peanut butter cups. Oh yeah.

I originally posted this recipe way back on Oct 9, 2013, not long after starting this blog. It has always been popular, and one of my personal favorites, so I decided it was time to post new photos along with a video and share these again!

These are so easy to make and are perfect for parties, potlucks, or lazy days when you’re craving some homemade sweets 🙂

Enjoy!

Really delicious. Super easy to make. I cut them into 12 large bars for a bake sale. They are really better a day after baking. Thanks for the recipe!

My boys would love these! I’ll just have to make them as soon as I get home from the store because that bag of peanut butter cups would be gone in a second.

I have a “cooking basics” type question about these bars! I made them today, following the recipe exactly and cooking them 25 minutes and they came out under-baked. Didn’t realize it till they were cooled and we were cutting 🙁 . So… how do you tell when something is baked “enough” without being “OVER baked” since the recipe is quite specific about not over-baking? They’re delicious anyway, but fall apart too much to use them as I had wanted, which was to send them in my kids’ lunches for school. (Not that their teachers need to deal with that kind of sugar rush on my kids anyway… maybe it’s a good thing!)

Hi Sarah! With cookie bars you can tell when they’re done when the edges start to pull away from the sides of the pan slightly, and nothing is jiggly when you shake the pan. Just be careful to not let them brown too much or wait until they’re firm to the touch, because then they will be too dry. Sorry they were underdone…although, give me a pan of these underbaked and I’d just go at it with a spoon 😉 Hope this helps!
