Pear Bread with a crunchy Brown Sugar Cinnamon Topping

Last week my bananas were a little past their prime, and I had pears on the counter that just never ripened. The first thing that came to my mind was this banana pear bread! I never thought to combine the two before, but I am so glad I tried it this time. This bad fruit situation turned into a beautiful thing!

Easy Pear Banana Bread Recipe

I will tell you, I added too many pears to this bread, so if you’re thinking it looks overloaded with pears…you are correct. I was a little too eager to rid my counter of the unripe pears and over did it a little. I wrote the recipe to include a lesser amount. We all still loved this bread, but it was almost more pear than bread! Oops.

The pears are not mushy, but not crunchy either. The texture was just right and we thought they were a delicious match for the sweet bananas and the warm, spicy cinnamon! And the topping? Please don’t skip the topping!! The brown sugar and cinnamon caramelize and make an irresistible crust on the top of the bread. I can’t wait to make this again!

pears in addition to bananas. There is a sugar walnut topping .

I looked at the recipe and thought it didn’t call for as much flour as several I’ve baked with bananas and fruit. The texture is very moist. Good flavor. I used about half the sugar because the fruit was really ripe/sweet.

    Enjoy.

Just made this yummy recipe, made it into muffins though. Had to make pear sauce because I didn’t have apple sauce (grocery store is closed today). Very easy & delicious! Will add to my recipe collection, especially since I have a pear tree!

Thank you for the inspiration! I had an overwhelming amount of mashed banana that I had worked into loaves, one with chocolate and one with pineapple. There was still more banana and one pear sitting on my counter – I wasn’t sure but then saw your recipe. Yes! I even had some pear sauce (got too lazy to can them last year so they all became sauce) and used it in place of the apple sauce. I also turned them into muffins as my other tins were in the oven. Yummy! Thank you!

I may be alone here, but one can never add too many pears. Especially if you’re trying to get rid of ’em!! This bread looks fantastic!
