Do you love soft, chewy cookies? This is one of the best cookie recipes of all time! My Soft and Chewy Double Chocolate Butterscotch Cookies are sure to satisfy the cookie monster in you!
I have been craving cookies these past few days…chocolate cookies. This recipe is so easy to make, and it comes together quickly – no dough chilling necessary. Just what I needed!
Every time I make these I can’t decide which is better: the cookie dough or the actual baked cookies. It’s a toss up! The dough is almost fudgy, it’s rich and chocolaty, and the mix of chocolate and butterscotch chips makes it even more irresistible.
I like to bake my cookies about a minute before they are fully cooked, that keeps them extra chewy and almost brownie like in texture.
I’m getting hungry again…

I baked these cookies last night and I have to say that they turned out wonderful.. The only thing I unintentionally changed was that I used a little under 1/2 c Cocoa Powder because I ran out 🙁 – it didn’t affect flavor much at all as they still taste great. Only thing I would remind everyone is to only bake these cookies when your oven is truly at 350 degrees, my oven’s temp kept changed because I was trying to set the timer and was actually changed the temperature on my first batch! So they ended up being cooked at 290 degrees for 10 minute which made them FLAT. DRY AND HARD.
My second and third bathes, I made sure temp was right at 350 and I only needed to cook them for 7 min! Turned out wonderful!
Of note – I also made my last two batches cookie size smaller (about the size of a large spoon that you use when eating dinner) and they really turned out great!
Love this recipe – thanks!

I made these today and they were a big hit. I did bake them a little bit longer – they didn’t look ready at only 7 minutes. I put them in for an additional 3 minutes. Delicious, thank you!

These were SO delicious — I just want to say thank you for sharing. I never would have tried butterscotch and chocolate together otherwise.
I did play a bit with the recipe — I always do. I left out the cornstarch entirely, cut out about 2 tablespoons of butter, and didn’t have any chocolate chips, so I substituted with M&Ms. Everyone loved the added color!
I highly recommend these treats to any fan of chocolate and butterscotch! Delicious!

Can I use white sugar instead of brown, will this change the taste a bit?

I just made these and they came out much more crumbly and dry then I was hoping. They also came out much darker. I followed the recipe perfectly – what do you think happened?
Stephanie says
Hi, Kate! Sounds like the cookies were over mixed and over baked. When you add the flour, mix just until combined. And you want to pull the cookies from the oven while they still look slightly underdone. You don’t want them to brown. Hope this helps!

Could you tell me approximately how many cookies this makes? I may need to double the recipe for a party!
Stephanie says
I would say about 4-5 dozen cookies, depending on how big you make them. These are one of my favorites! Hope you enjoy them 🙂
