Who else loves chocolate for breakfast?! I do realize that this is more of a dessert bread, but banana bread is socially acceptable as breakfast food, so I say go for it! You will certainly be motivated to get out of bed in the morning if you know this is waiting for you in the kitchen!
One of my twins, who is 5, is obsessed with chocolate banana bread. Every time he sees that our bananas on the counter are starting to get spotty, he lights up! We can make chocolate banana bread now!! I usually try to talk him into another banana baked good, but he is quite insistent. How can I refuse those big brown eyes? Plus, he always helps me make it, and we both love that extra quality time.
Needless to say, I have made my fair share of chocolate banana breads. This version is our current favorite. It’s so moist, and super chocolatey, and the bit of sea salt makes it different from all the others! We all love it – especially warm from the oven!
This bread is perfect with a cup of coffee or a tall glass of milk, any time of day! Enjoy!

Chocolate and banana is one of my very favourite combinations, but the addition of sea salt is positively genius! It just so happens that I have some overripe bananas sitting my fruit bowl, so guess what I’m going to be baking up tomorrow? 🙂

Hi… I want to make this recipe but I have some questions….
The recipe calls for 3 large bananas, mashed….can you give me some idea what this would be in cups?
You mention 1 eggs & in the directions you said In a large mixing bowl, mix together the butter, oil, bananas, and eggs…..is there more than one egg?
Can this recipe be split into smaller loaf pans. I would think it would be ok.
Please reply. Thank you so much
Stephanie Brubaker says
Hi Patricia! For the bananas, I would say about 1 1/2 cups.
The s in egas was a typo, I’m sorry. Just one egg 🙂
And yes! I have 3 mini loaf pans (not sure the exact measurements) and it makes 3 of those!
Hope you enjoy the bread!
