Ingredients
Donuts
- 1 1/4 cup flour
- 3/4 cups sugar
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons butter (melted)
Glaze
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon water
Salted Caramel
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup cream
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- sea salt (to taste)

Step 1 | |
Preheat oven to 425 In a bowl, mix together flour, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add in the egg, buttermilk, coffee, and vanilla and mix until well combined. Pour in the melted butter and stir just until incorporated. Fill greased donut pans 2/3 full and bake 7-9 minutes. Remove from pan. | |
Glaze | |
Step 2 | |
In a glass bowl melt chocolate, butter, and water in the microwave for one minute. Stir until smooth and immediately dip the top half of donuts, one at a time into the glaze. Set aside. | |
Salted Caramel | |
Step 3 | |
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine butter, brown sugar, cream, and vanilla. Continue cooking and stirring for about 8 minutes or until the caramel thickens. Turn off heat and add sea salt. Let cool about 5 minutes before drizzling over donuts. |
