Chocolate M&M Cookies
Serves 48
Prep time 10 minutes
Cook time 7 minutes
Total time 17 minutes
These Chocolate M&M Cookies are thick, soft, and chewy, and they are just oozing with gooey chocolate chips and coconut M&M's. Perfect for Easter or birthdays!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 bag coconut m&m's (or any variety you like)

Directions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 350
Cream together butter and sugar. Add cocoa and mix well. Add eggs, vanilla, and salt and mix until well combined. Add baking soda and powder and slowly add the flour, mixing just until incorporated. Stir in chips.
Drop by rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased baking sheet and press a few M&M's onto the tops of each cookie. Bake for 7 minutes. Let cool on baking sheet a few minutes before transfering to cooling racks.

I made these today and they were delicious! However, they didnt turn out to look like anything in the pictures! My cookies were more smooth, and didnt look as cracked and moist as yours. My cookies did not spread either. Do you think you know what went wrong? I halved the recipe, and refrigerated the dough for 20 minutes. 🙂

I’m glad you liked them, Amanda! My guess is the reason they didn’t spread is because you chilled the dough. Baking them at room temp helps them spread more 🙂

Oh man, that shot of the halved cookie… I’m definitely drooling. I haven’t tried the coconut m&ms but I’m going to use this recipe as an excuse to go get some!
